The NSW State Masters Road Championships were run and won over the last few days. The Championships had more than 300 riders over three days of tough racing. There was a scarcity of Orange riders at the pointy end of the races, but those that did ride, enjoyed (if that is the right word!) the experience. Stand out performances were as follows.
- Christine Wolfson – 1st WMAS4 ITT
- Charlie Gascoyne – 1st MMAS5 ITT and 4th (by a tyre width) MMAS5 Road Race
These events take a huge amount of organisation and volunteer hours. Lea Dally once again pulled it all together, coordinating the volunteers, running point for questions and inquiries from all and sundry, as well as commissairing on all three days. Other volunteers were too numerous to mention, however Wendy Dibble, Karen Selmes, Ray Dally and my long suffering father, Tony Bland, helped out in various roles on all three days. To all those who helped out in any way, large or small, THANK YOU.
We have received amazingly positive feedback about the event, with riders and supporters alike telling us what a fantastic event it was and how much they enjoyed their time in Orange. Dates for the 2018 event will be announced once the summer program has been set. Time to start training!
