Nine juniors (and their families) from the Orange Cycle Club headed up to the NSW Junior Road Championships on the weekend of 15 and 16 August. The weekend consisted of an ITT, a road race and a criterium for each child. The weather was spectacular, the roads were smooth and largely free of potholes, and the racing was tough. This is the first time that Tamworth CC has hosted the event and the produced a few great courses, with a bit of up and down for all age groups.
The kids all rode really well with the Pip and Oilivia Martin in a crowded U9 age group. Cennedi and Anja Dally, Sophie Martin and Amelia Hall mixed it up in the U11 girls and Xavier Bland and Thapelo Nare in the U11 boys rode well with the older kids really applying the pressure. Micah Dibble and Brooke Martin rode in the U13 boys and girls respectively. The U13s is an interesting age group with the leading rider in both boys and girls lapping the field in the crit.
This race brings the road season to a close The kids have trained really hard over winter and should be very proud of what they have achieved. They will all now have a well deserved rest before the track season starts in October. Well done kids.
